Driving on the Stuart Highway to Alice Springs Northern Territory

"Driving on the Stuart Highway from Port Augusta to Darwin is a huge adventure, we visited Coober Pedy for two very unique days, then went to Uluru to be amazed. The Olgas, Kings Canyon, Palm Valley are all 'must visit' locations. The McDonnell Ranges are awesome at Alice Springs, loved the curious Devils Marbles, then stayed overnight at Tennant Creek.

Daley Waters pub is a must visit and we camped overnight, Mataranka thermal pool is so refreshing any time of the day, Katherine Gorge cruise is so interesting and scenic, stayed five nights at Berry Springs visited everything in the area including Darwin. "

The Northern Territory has a huge range of accommodation, you can camp in cabins or camp out under the stars in beautiful locations. You may rather stay in a 5 star hotel in a tropical setting or be with nature in a wilderness park. The choice is yours. Remember to book in advance if necessary.

northern territory australia florence falls litchfield national park

The beautiful Florence Falls at Litchfield National Park NT

"Litchfield National Park is about one hundred kilometres south of Darwin and has five main tourist attractions. Florence Falls can be seen from the viewing platform high above or get in and experience being refreshed in beautiful surrounds.

Tolmer Falls are spectacular but are for viewing only, the Wangi Falls are the most popular and easiest to access. The Buley Rockholes are more like a creek with many deep holes shallow rock areas and small waterfalls.

The 'Magnetic termite' mounds show that termites are actually clever. There are hundreds of mounds that are about two metres high and are all placed so that the narrow edge is facing in a North South direction to minimise heat absorption from the sun to keep the termites cooler.
It is quite an interesting sight."

Yellow River at Kakadu National Park Northern Territory

"Kakadu National Park is a couple of hours drive from Darwin, you could easily stay several weeks as there is so much to see. If you haven't got that long the main attractions are the 'Yellow River' where you can go on a cruise and see plenty of wildlife and take some photos or video.

'Nourlangie Rock' was used by the aboriginals for protection from the severe weather. 'Ubirr' is popular for the exceptional aboriginal art and the amazing full circle view across the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory Australia.

There is a half hour drive into 'Jim Jim Falls' and then a scramble across rocks but the view is worth it, a huge high cascade. Hike up to the top of 'Gunlom' waterfall and you will find cascading waterholes with a magnificent view, you can also swim in the lower plunge pool and admire the waterfall."
