My Favourite Landscape
Pictures Of Australia And Unique
Road Trip Destinations
It is easy to collect photos and pictures of Australia as there are thousands of opportunities to take photos of stunning locations.
There is something very special about taking your own photos, sketching or painting a special place that you want to remember forever.
You may take many photos but there probably will be just a few each trip that you will really treasure.
Creating a 'Pictures of Australia' photo album is a great way to display your treasured pictures. Scrapbooking is very popular, make a collage and frame it or frame individual photos.
All the pictures below are of Australian locations, I have taken them while travelling and holidaying in Australia, the descriptions include some Australia travel facts about that particular location or road trip destination.
Buccaneer Archipelago Kimberley WA
Both these photos were taken on a charter flight that left from Cape Leveque and flew over the Buccaneer Archipelago which is near Derby in the Kimberley. The Buccaneer Archipelago is a collection of about 1000 islands that are absolutely amazing to see from the air.
This photo shows the 'Horizontal Falls' which have featured on many travel shows. The tides are huge, about 10 to 11 metres and are some of the biggest in the world, definitely the biggest in Australia.
(normal tides are 1 to 2 metres)
This image shows the stunning and rugged coastline from a birds eye view.
Lake McKenzie Fraser Island QLD
Fraser Island is a great 4WD adventure holiday, we have camped there 3 times and we are always amazed at the stunning views on the coastline and inland. Fraser Island is an excellent subject for taking pictures of Australia landscapes.
Each time we make sure we visit Lake McKenzie as it is just stunning and so relaxing to swim in, it is probably the most visited natural site on the island. It is filled only by rain water and the sand is beautifully soft to walk on.
The blue and green colours of Lake McKenzie are fascinating.
Bells Gorge Gibb River Road WA
Bell Gorge is near the start of the Gibb River Road if you are starting from Derby near Broome. We camped there and then walked to these amazing beautiful gorges
. There is the upper pool and the waterfall flows into the lower pool. For More Information www.gibbriverroad.net
This is the upper pool which we relaxed in and then walked across and descended down the rocks to get to the lower pool.
The lower pool was beautiful, crystal clear water and sitting under the waterfall was so refreshing.
Lake Argyle Western Australia
The Kimberley has many 'must see' destinations, Lake Argyle is one of them. Lake Argyle is absolutely huge, so huge that it is like being in the sea when you are the largest section.
Lake Argyle is a great location for taking pictures of Australia landscapes as it is surrounded by majestic ranges and home to about 30,000 freshwater crocodiles and hundreds of other species of birds and other wildlife.
This photo was taken while we were on a Sunset cruise on Lake Argyle.
Chambers Pillar Outback South Australia
Chambers Pillar is in Central Australia and was first recorded by John MacDougall Stuart when he was going north on his very first brave attempt to cross Australia in the year 1860. He named 'Chambers Pillar' after James Chambers who was a South Australian sponsors for his exploration.
Chambers Pillar was created millions of years ago. The wind and rain have been slowly eroding the soft sandstone away, so what is left is harder pebbly sandstone.
We camped nearby within several hundred metres, the photo below was taken at sunrise when Chambers Pillar had a slight glow.
We weren't the only ones enjoying the view.
The sunset produces a spectacular red Chambers Pillar.
Mackenzie Falls Grampians National Park VIC
Mackenzie Falls are in the Grampians National Park in Victoria and are a very popular tourist attraction. Mackenzie Falls are Victoria's largest and most majestic waterfall
The waterfall is a beautiful and spectacular cascade into a deep pool, the walk in is well worth it.
For more information www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/Grampians
Mackenzie Falls are accessed by a walking trail beginning at the car park and winding through the bush to a viewing platform overlooking the Falls.
Emma Gorge Elquestro Station WA
Emma Gorge is located close to the ElQuestro Wilderness Park and only 2 kilometres off the Gibb River Road and an hour drive from Kununnurra. We walked into the beautiful Emma Gorge and are always amazed at how hidden these stunning locations are.
Emma Gorge is a great example of a stunning landscape for a 'Pictures of Australia' photo album. This photo was taken in July so it was the dry season, in the wet season the waterfall would be a torrent of water and a spectacular sight.
The walk into Emma Gorge is sure worth it, beautiful clear water, amazing tall rock walls covered with greenery and the flowing waterfall, which are always refreshing and fascinating.
Murray River Australia VIC/NSW
We have camped many times on the banks of the Murray River and also hired a houseboat for a week to really enjoy everything the Murray River has to offer. Landscape pictures of Australia are easy to take when the Murray River has a so many interesting things to take photos of like the river red gums, the wildlife and the sunrises and sunsets.
The Murray River is the third longest river that can be navigated in the world and its total length is about 2700 kilometres long. The Murray River starts in the Kosciusko National Park and goes out to sea near Adelaide. It borders Victoria, New South Wales and then flows through South Australia.
This photo was taken early in the morning to catch the sunrise colours on the majestic river red gums that line the banks of the Murray River.
Uluru Ayers Rock Central Australia
Uluru Ayers Rock is where many stunning landscape pictures of Australia have been taken, as it must be one of Australia's most visited and well known tourist attractions.
Many photos have been taken of it showing off its vast colour range of which are usually shades of orange, brown, reds and occasionally pinkish and grey due to the changing sunlight and climate conditions. Photos of Uluru Ayers Rock would be a great feature for your pictures of Australia collection photo album or slide show. Here are some of my pictures of Uluru.
This photo is a little different than the usual picture of Uluru. It was taken as we were walking around the base, it is a section of the 'huge' rock with some greenery typical of the area.
Bungle Bungles in the Kimberley WA
The Bungle Bungles are in the Purnululu National Park which is 110 km north of the town of Halls Creek and 250 km south of Kununurra in the Kimberley, Western Australia.
We camped in the National Park, then drove to the various walking trails of spectacular places like Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Creek Walk, Mini Palms Gorge, Echidna Chasm and you can walk amongst the domes but the best way to see them is to fly over on a charter flight.
This photo was taken as we were driving past the amazing beehive domes. This is one of my favourite photos as the colouring is very typical of the Outback with the beautiful blue sky, red rock and the greenery.
