My kids standing in front of 'Arnos Wall' at Winton Outback QLD"We visited Winton when we were travelling through the Outback of Queensland, we stayed at the North Gregory Hotel which was a wonderful change from pitching a tent. Banjo Paterson sung 'Waltzing Matilda' for the very first time in 1895 in the North Gregory Hotel. Winton has other interesting attractions like the Waltzing Matilda Centre which includes a tribute to Qantas. Arnos Wall is a historic and fascinating display of the 20th century. Winton is also home to the world's only recorded dinosaur stampede and you can also fossick for opals."

Bells Gorge on the Gibb River Road in the Kimberley"Enjoying Bells Gorge was part of our big adventure travelling the Gibb River Road in the Kimberley, Western Australia in the School Holidays. The Kimberley is in the Top End of Australia so it is best visited in the cooler months of April to September which also is the best time to visit Central Australia and the Outback. The Kimberley is an absolutely amazing road trip destination that also includes stunning Broome, the Bungle Bungles, El Questro, Lake Argyle."

Kids 'Surfing' on the bank of the Cooper Creek near Innamincka Outback Queensland
"Kids easily find things to amuse themselves when on holidays including surfing on the bank of Cooper Creek without any waves to be seen! Central Australia is an excellent destination for the school holidays, several years ago we went on a 4WD trek through unique towns like Oodnadatta, Boulia, Corner Country, William Creek and Birdsville. The last place we stayed at before heading home was Innamincka and we camped on the bank of Cooper Creek. Innamincka area is famous for the 'Dig Tree' and the Burke and Wills expedition which we explored while we were there and found it fascinating."
